SEATTLE — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested five illegal immigrants in Washington state, all with convictions related to driving under the influence.
The arrests occurred between Jan. 29 and Feb. 19 in cities including Mount Vernon, Bellingham, Yakima, Bellevue, and Lynden. Each individual had prior criminal records, including DUI offenses and, in some cases, additional charges such as assault and reckless driving.
Among those taken into custody was a Mexican citizen arrested in Lynden on Feb. 19, who had multiple convictions from King and Whatcom County courts for assault and reckless driving, along with previous DUI arrests by both the Washington State Patrol and Federal Way Police Department.
Another Mexican citizen was arrested in Yakima on Jan. 30 with convictions for DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. A Guatemalan national was taken into custody in Bellevue on Feb. 14 with pending state charges for DUI.
All five individuals remain in ICE custody pending removal proceedings.
