by Local News Report

SOUTH TOMS RIVER, NJ — A South Toms River man accused of killing his wife earlier this month will remain in custody as he awaits trial on murder and weapons charges.

Gustavo Juarez-Perez, 38, was ordered detained at the Ocean County Jail following a March 18 hearing before Judge David M. Fritch, J.S.C. He faces charges of murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the March 8 death of 30-year-old Cheyanne Juarez.

Assistant Prosecutor Nicholas Mezza represented the state during the detention hearing. No additional details on upcoming court proceedings have been released.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office continues to investigate, and authorities remind the public that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
