YONKERS, NY — A Yonkers man was subdued with a Taser and arrested Tuesday afternoon after walking toward a crowded area of Getty Square while brandishing a large kitchen knife, police said.
Curtis Greene, 41, was spotted just after 3:30 p.m. on North Broadway with the weapon in hand, prompting a swift response from members of the 4th Precinct Anti-Crime Unit. Officers repeatedly ordered Greene to drop the knife, but he ignored commands and continued walking toward the busy intersection filled with pedestrians.

Detective Specialist Goldberg joined Officers McGill and Mendelson as they attempted to contain Greene. Officers McCormack and Petrucelli soon arrived and used their Tasers, successfully striking Greene and causing him to fall and drop the weapon.
Officers immediately secured the knife and took Greene into custody after a struggle. One officer sustained injuries during the arrest, leading to an additional charge of assault in the second degree against Greene.
He now faces multiple charges, including criminal possession of a weapon, menacing a police officer, resisting arrest, obstruction of governmental administration, and assault.
No injuries were reported to Greene or members of the public. Authorities credited officer training and equipment for safely resolving the dangerous encounter.
