Rayvone Gibson is wanted for questioning after a man was dropped off with gunshot wounds in a car police say he rented.

Newark police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating Rayvone Gibson, a Brooklyn resident wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting that took place on Sunday, April 27.

According to Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., the incident came to light around 7 a.m. when officers responded to University Hospital following the arrival of a shooting victim who had been dropped off in a private vehicle.

The vehicle, which had Massachusetts license plate number 4FPV93, was later determined to have been rented by Gibson at the time of the shooting, authorities said.

Gibson has not been officially named a suspect, but investigators believe he may have information critical to the ongoing investigation. He is currently being sought by detectives from the Newark Police Division.

Director Miranda is urging anyone with knowledge of Gibson’s whereabouts to contact the department’s 24-hour Crime Stoppers tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). Callers may remain anonymous.
