Manhattan, New York — A Powerball player won a $50,000 third-tier prize in Saturday night’s drawing with a ticket sold at a local Manhattan grocery store, the New York Lottery announced Monday.

The winning ticket was purchased at London Grocery, located at 252 10th Avenue. It matched four of the five white ball numbers plus the red Power Ball, securing the $50,000 prize.

Powerball numbers are drawn three times a week — on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays — with white balls drawn from a field of 1 to 69 and the red Power Ball selected from 1 to 26. The winning numbers for the May 3 drawing were not included in the release.

The identity of the winning player has not yet been disclosed. Winners are advised to sign the back of their ticket and contact lottery officials to claim their prize within one year of the drawing date.

London Grocery joins a growing list of retail outlets in New York State that have recently sold winning tickets for large national and state lottery games.

Lottery proceeds continue to fund education

The New York Lottery, which remains the largest and most profitable lottery in North America, contributed $3.8 billion to public schools across the state in the most recent fiscal year.
