Head-on collision in South Jersey sends two to emergency room

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A two-vehicle head-on crash early Monday on Blackwood Clementon Road left both drivers hospitalized and temporarily shut down a major stretch of roadway, according to Gloucester Township Police.

Officers responded at approximately 12:26 a.m. to the intersection of Blackwood Clementon Road and Peters Lane, where they found two heavily damaged vehicles. Each vehicle was occupied by a single driver who sustained injuries in the crash.

Emergency responders from multiple agencies—including the Gloucester Township Police Department, Pine Hill Police Department, Inspira Basic Life Support, Virtua Paramedics, and Blenheim Fire Company—arrived quickly to provide medical aid. Both injured drivers were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A preliminary investigation by the Serious Crash Investigation Team (SCIT) determined that one vehicle failed to maintain its lane and crossed into oncoming traffic, resulting in a head-on collision. Authorities have not released the names of the drivers pending family notification.

Due to the severity of the crash, police closed Blackwood Clementon Road between Erial Road and Little Gloucester Road for several hours while SCIT conducted a detailed scene analysis.
