HARTFORD, Conn. — U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has removed a Colombian national charged in a series of violent crimes in Connecticut, including assault during a home invasion and violating a protective order.
ICE officials confirmed that 26-year-old Kevin Esneider Garcia-Rojas was deported to Colombia on April 24 following multiple arrests in Hartford and immigration violations.
Garcia-Rojas illegally entered the U.S. near El Paso, Texas, on Jan. 28, 2023, and was arrested later that year by Hartford Police. On Oct. 13, 2023, he was charged with disorderly conduct and assault, released on a $5,000 bond, and re-arrested less than a month later on Nov. 8 for assault, home invasion, breach of peace, violating a protective order, and risk of injury to a child. He was again released, this time on a $100,000 bond.
ICE Boston issued Garcia-Rojas a notice to appear before a federal immigration judge on Jan. 2, 2024, and took him into custody on Jan. 28 under a warrant for arrest of an alien.
ICE Boston Acting Field Office Director Patricia H. Hyde said, “ICE Boston will not tolerate such threats to our neighbors. We will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing alien offenders from our streets.”
