FAIR LAWN, NJ — A driver fled the scene after their vehicle was struck by a train, leaving behind the trunk and rear bumper, according to the Fair Lawn Police Department.

The incident occurred near a New Jersey Transit rail crossing, and the vehicle was last seen speeding down Pollitt Drive without its entire trunk and rear bumper attached. Authorities have confirmed the vehicle’s license plate has been identified.

NJ Transit Police are leading the investigation. No injuries have been reported, and officials clarified that the incident was not caused by the crossing itself but attributed to the actions of the driver.

“If anyone saw anything please contact the desk at 201-796-1400,” Fair Lawn Police said in a statement posted to Facebook.
