Body found in burning car outside Davidsonville business

A burned vehicle with human remains found in Davidsonville has launched a countywide suspicious death investigation.

DAVIDSONVILLE, Md. — Police in Anne Arundel County are investigating a suspicious death after human remains were discovered in a vehicle that was fully engulfed in flames outside a commercial business Saturday night.

Emergency responders were called to 600 West Central Avenue at approximately 9:25 p.m. for a reported vehicle fire. When crews arrived, they found the vehicle in the parking lot completely consumed by flames. After extinguishing the fire, officials discovered human remains inside the passenger compartment.

The Anne Arundel County Fire & Explosives Investigations Unit responded to determine the cause of the fire, while detectives from the county’s Criminal Investigations Division took over the death investigation.

Police have not yet identified the victim. “Detectives are making efforts to positively identify the human remains,” officials said in a statement.

The remains were transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the identity and cause of death.

Investigation remains active, police seek public assistance

Police are treating the death as suspicious and have not ruled out foul play. No suspects have been named, and authorities have not disclosed whether any personal items or evidence were recovered from the scene.
