HEBRON, Md. — A structure fire at a vacant three-story home in Wicomico County early Monday morning has been ruled incendiary, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The blaze was reported at approximately 3:59 a.m. at 305 Chestnut Street in Hebron. The structure, owned by Phillipe Amisial, was unoccupied at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The Hebron Volunteer Fire Department responded to the one-alarm fire with 47 firefighters on scene. It took crews about 45 minutes to bring the fire under control. Damage to the structure is estimated at $40,000. No contents were reported inside the home.
Fire Marshal seeks information on cause
The fire originated in the interior of the building, and investigators have determined the preliminary cause to be incendiary. No smoke alarms or sprinkler systems were present at the time of the fire.
The fire was discovered by a neighbor who alerted authorities. There have been no arrests, and the investigation remains ongoing.
