WILKES-BARRE, PA — City police are investigating a robbery that occurred early Friday morning after a man was assaulted and had his bicycle stolen by three unidentified suspects.
Officers were dispatched around 2:49 a.m. to the 200 block of Carlisle Street following a report of an assault. Upon arrival, they made contact with the 54-year-old victim, a Wilkes-Barre resident, who reported being attacked while riding his bicycle near the rear of 600 Carey Avenue.
According to police, the victim said he was approached by three males. One of the suspects allegedly said, “That’s a nice bike, you should give it to me,” before another suspect struck him in the face.
The suspects then took the bicycle and fled the scene. No weapons were reported, and the extent of the victim’s injuries was not disclosed.
All three suspects were described only as Black males of unknown age. Police have not released any surveillance footage or additional identifying details.
Investigation ongoing in Carey Avenue robbery
The Wilkes-Barre City Police Department said the case remains open and under active investigation. No arrests have been made as of Saturday.
