NEWARK — Tuesday morning commuters across New Jersey are facing multiple delays and closures due to crashes and congestion on major highways and interchanges.
A crash on Route 35 southbound in Aberdeen Township has led to a closure of the Garden State Parkway Exit 117 ramp to Route 35 south. The closure remains in effect until further notice as of 7:59 a.m.
In Southampton Township, an overturned tractor trailer has shut down all eastbound lanes of NJ 70 just west of Four Mile Circle since 5:36 a.m. There is no estimated time for reopening.
Travelers headed to New York are seeing delays at the Holland Tunnel eastbound on the New Jersey side, though all lanes remain open. Travel time from the NJ Turnpike Exit 14C and Route 139 at Tonnelle Circle is currently 20 minutes.
Widespread congestion is affecting multiple areas across the state:
- US 206 northbound: Slow traffic from Drakesdale Road in Roxbury to Flanders Netcong Road in Mount Olive.
- NJ 15 southbound: Delays through Jefferson Township near Taylor Road and Berkshire Valley Road.
- I-78 westbound: Local lanes backed up in Union and Springfield townships near Burnett Avenue and NJ 124.
- NJ 29 northbound: Congestion from I-295 in Hamilton through Thunder Road in Trenton.
- NJ 3 westbound: Heavy volume between the Garden State Parkway and US 46 in Clifton.
- I-287 southbound: Traffic slowing from US 22 to NJ 28 in Bridgewater.
- I-287 northbound: Delays from Piscataway to Franklin Township.
- NJ 3 eastbound: Eastbound delays stretch from the Turnpike’s Eastern Spur in Secaucus to US 1&9 in North Bergen.
- NJ 17 northbound and southbound: Traffic heavy between Lodi and Rochelle Park and from Paramus to Rochelle Park.
- NJ 4 eastbound: Delays continue from Hackensack Avenue to Queen Anne Road in Teaneck.
- I-280 eastbound: Slow traffic from East Orange to Newark.
- I-280 westbound: Westbound congestion in Harrison through Newark near Essex and King Streets.
