WATCHUNG, N.J. — A 20-year-old man from Plainfield has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident outside a business on Route 22 West in Watchung, authorities announced.
Naseem Eure was taken into custody without incident on June 2 in Plainfield, nearly three months after a shot was fired from a vehicle at approximately 9:39 p.m. on March 17. The incident occurred as an individual was walking on a sidewalk near the business. Multiple patrons were nearby at the time, but no injuries were reported.
Watchung Police responded to a 911 call about gunfire and found evidence of gunshot damage to the building. Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Watchung Police Department investigated the scene and later identified Eure as the passenger who allegedly fired the shot.
Eure was charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and third-degree endangering another person. He was processed at the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office and lodged in the Somerset County Jail pending a court appearance.
Prosecutor John P. McDonald acknowledged the efforts of the Plainfield Police Department for assisting with the arrest.
