Wilkes-Barre man arrested after woman says he pushed her down stairs and grabbed her neck

WILKES-BARRE, PA – A 28-year-old city man was taken into custody Sunday night after a woman reported he assaulted her inside their shared residence, allegedly pushing her down a flight of stairs and grabbing her by the neck before she managed to escape and seek help.

Just before 10:40 p.m. on Sunday, the 27-year-old victim arrived at Wilkes-Barre City Headquarters to report that she had been physically attacked by Dwayne Myers at their North Washington Street home. She told officers the assault involved being repeatedly struck, violently shoved down stairs, and grabbed around the neck.

According to the victim’s statement, she fled the residence following the attack and immediately went to police to file the report. She did not specify how long the alleged abuse lasted or whether she sustained visible injuries.

Police later located and arrested Myers without incident. He was transported to City Headquarters for processing. Officials have not released the specific charges he is facing, but an investigation is ongoing.

There were no additional details on what led to the assault or whether a protection order is in place.
