Woman pinned in late-night South Boston assault as police search for suspect
BOSTON, MA — A woman walking alone in South Boston early Sunday morning was pinned against a vehicle by an unknown man in a disturbing assault that has now triggered a citywide manhunt, according to Boston Police.
The incident happened around 2:00 AM on August 17 near the intersection of Telegraph Street and Old Harbor Street. Investigators say the victim was walking uphill on Telegraph Street when she noticed a man trailing her. After attempting to get her attention by shouting, the suspect rushed forward, pinned her against a car, and restrained her arms to prevent her from moving.
The woman screamed, which distracted the assailant just long enough for her to escape and flee to safety.
Boston Police are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the man involved. He is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall, with a medium build, tan complexion, and a black buzz cut. At the time of the attack, he was wearing a black sweatshirt and dark pants.
Images of the suspect have been released as part of the ongoing investigation by detectives from District C-6, which covers the South Boston area. Authorities are urging anyone who may have been in the area or has any relevant information to contact detectives directly.
The case remains open as law enforcement continues to review surveillance footage and leads from the neighborhood.
