Glen Burnie man arrested after gunfire erupts at apartment complex

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A 45-year-old man was taken into custody after shots rang out early Sunday morning in a Glen Burnie apartment complex, leading officers to recover a handgun and shell casings scattered across the area.

Eastern District officers responded to the 300 block of Mountain Ridge Court around 2:20 a.m. on August 24 following reports of gunfire. While canvassing the area, officers heard additional shots and soon located multiple shell casings, including one found on a third-floor apartment balcony.

Detectives executed a search warrant at the apartment. During the operation, a man attempted to flee by jumping from the balcony but was quickly detained. He was identified as Shelton Brown of Glen Burnie.

Investigators determined Brown was responsible for firing the shots. A .45 caliber Glock handgun was recovered during the search.

Brown has been arrested and charged in connection with the weapons offense.
