Carjacker in ski mask strikes downtown DC then flees toward H Street

The incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. in the 800 block of 7th Street NW, according to the Metropolitan Police Department’s 1st District. The suspect, described as a Black male with a slim build, was wearing a black ski mask and all black clothing when he approached the victim and forcibly took their vehicle.
Shortly after the carjacking, the vehicle was reportedly spotted in the 600 block of H Street NW, where it may have been ditched or relocated. Police units responded swiftly, canvassing the area for surveillance footage and witnesses, but the suspect managed to flee and remains at large.
It is unclear if the carjacking involved a weapon or whether the victim sustained any injuries. Police have not released any details about the vehicle involved or whether it has been recovered.
