Burlington, NJ – A 19-year-old Eastampton resident is facing multiple weapons charges after allegedly firing a handgun at a vehicle during a dispute last month in the New Yorkshire section of the city, prosecutors announced Wednesday.
Donte Anderson was arrested on Aug. 25 and remains in the Burlington County Jail after a Superior Court judge ordered him detained. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, along with counts of unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of a large-capacity ammunition magazine.
The charges stem from an Aug. 14 incident near York and Clarkson streets, where investigators say Anderson fired about 10 rounds toward a sedan carrying people he had been arguing with. No one was injured.
Detectives later recovered the suspected firearm at a residence in Lumberton.
The investigation was handled jointly by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and City of Burlington Police Department, with support from Burlington Township Police.
The case is now being prepared for presentation to a grand jury for possible indictment.
