Jackson, NJ – A historic Little League season was celebrated Tuesday night as the Jackson Township Council recognized the Jackson-Holbrook Little League team for capturing the New Jersey state championship and setting a new township record with 15 straight wins.
Council President Jennifer Kuhn praised the players for their unprecedented streak, noting that no team in Jackson’s history had ever strung together so many victories. The squad went undefeated through districts and sectionals, defeating rivals Toms River and Nottingham along the way, before clinching the state title without a loss.
The boys’ run ended in the regional tournament, where they fell to Connecticut’s powerhouse team — ranked third in the world — after pushing them to extra innings twice. Connecticut would go on to finish third in the Little League World Series.
Jackson’s team closed the season at 15-2, marking the first Little League state title for the township and the first year since the merger of Holbrook Little League and Jackson Little League. Councilmembers joined Kuhn in congratulating the players, calling their effort a source of pride for the community.
The recognition capped a summer in which the Jackson-Holbrook team cemented its place in township history with determination, resilience, and teamwork.
