Motorcyclist killed after losing control on Beach Drive in Kensington

Kensington, MD – A Bethesda man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Beach Drive Monday evening, and Montgomery County detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances.

Police said 54-year-old Abraham Michael Ehlers was riding a black 2006 Suzuki DR-Z400 motorcycle shortly after 6 p.m. when he lost control near the stretch of Beach Drive between Rockville Pike and Knowles Avenue. His motorcycle veered off the roadway and into a wooded area.

Responding officers from the 2nd District and Montgomery County Fire Rescue pronounced Ehlers dead at the scene.

Detectives with the Collision Reconstruction Unit are leading the investigation. At this time, the cause of the crash has not been determined.
