Jackson, NJ – Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a motorcyclist who sped off from an officer during a traffic enforcement detail, nearly hitting him in the process.
The incident happened Wednesday, August 27, around 11:34 a.m. on Frank Applegate Road. Officer Colangelo, who was monitoring traffic complaints in the area, observed a motorcycle traveling at 52 mph in a 40 mph zone, confirmed by radar.
Wearing a high-visibility police vest and operating a clearly marked police motorcycle, Colangelo stepped into the roadway and motioned for the rider to pull over. The motorcyclist slowed briefly before shaking his head “no,” revving the engine, and accelerating into the opposite lane — forcing the officer to move to avoid being struck.
The suspect is described as a white male wearing a blue helmet, a sleeveless shirt, and carrying a black backpack. He has a tattoo on his right upper arm, as well as another tattoo on the inner left arm. The motorcycle is believed to be a blue 2018–2020 Yamaha MT-07 with a loud exhaust and small black or gray fairing.

Police released video footage of the incident in hopes of identifying the rider. Anyone with information is urged to contact Officer Colangelo at [email protected] or the Jackson Police Department at 732-928-1111. Anonymous tips are welcome.
