Queens, NY – A 33-year-old man was ambushed in broad daylight Friday morning in front of 139-27 Queens Boulevard, where three masked suspects robbed him of thousands in cash and valuables before fleeing, police said.
At around 10:15 a.m., two men jumped out of a white Honda Accord with Massachusetts license plate #2RHH48 while a third suspect stayed behind the wheel. Approaching the victim from behind, one suspect brandished a firearm while the other put the man in a chokehold, forcing him to the ground.
The thieves ripped a chain from the victim’s neck, stripped off a bracelet, swiped his wallet with credit and debit cards, grabbed his eyeglasses, and took roughly $2,500 in cash, according to investigators.
The trio then bolted southbound on Queens Boulevard. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Police described the two men who confronted the victim as males last seen wearing face masks, hooded sweatshirts, sweatpants, and sneakers. The driver of the getaway car has not been identified.
The NYPD is continuing its search for the suspects.
