Cumberland, MD – Police made two separate arrests Sunday night and early Monday, including a downtown street disturbance that turned violent and a traffic stop that uncovered methamphetamine.
Officers responded to Pershing Street on Sunday for a disturbance and found a large crowd gathered. Police said Bryce Steven Patton, 28, of Cumberland, refused orders and was seen committing an assault. When officers tried to arrest him, Patton resisted and pushed one of them before being subdued.

Street disturbance turns violent
Patton was booked on two counts of second-degree assault, along with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, intoxicated public disturbance, and failure to obey a lawful order. He was taken to Central Booking, appeared before a District Court Commissioner, and later posted a $2,500 unsecured personal bond.
Drug arrest downtown
Just after 1 a.m. Monday, an officer stopped a vehicle on North Centre Street. A police K-9 alerted to drugs inside.
Police said April Lynn Miller, 42, and Mathews Mark Norris, 52, both of Cumberland, were found with suspected methamphetamine. Each was arrested, issued a criminal citation, and released pending trial.
One night in Cumberland ended with three arrests and two very different charges.
