Green Belt Murder: Man shot and killed on Springhill Court

GREENBELT, MD – A late afternoon shooting in the 6200 block of Springhill Court left one man dead on Saturday, prompting an active police investigation, authorities said. Officers from the Greenbelt Police Department were dispatched around 4:45 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire in the residential area.

Responding officers found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police have not released the victim’s identity pending family notification.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the department at 301-474-7200. The area remained cordoned off into the evening as detectives processed the scene for evidence and canvassed nearby homes for surveillance footage or witnesses.
