BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Two teenage girls were found dead early Saturday after a late-night subway surfing attempt ended in tragedy at a Williamsburg station.

The victims, believed to be between 13 and 15, were discovered unconscious on the tracks at the Marcy Avenue/Broadway stop around 3:10 a.m.

Emergency crews arrived within minutes, but both girls were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Officials believe the pair had been riding atop a moving J train when they lost their footing near the elevated platform.

The NYPD reported at least three deaths tied to subway surfing so far this year, highlighting a dangerous trend fueled in part by social media videos that glamorize the stunt.

Authorities have arrested 114 people citywide in connection with the practice since January.

Transit officials urged riders to stay inside cars, warning that riding outside trains is both illegal and frequently fatal.
