FORKED RIVER, N.J. – At the Associated Humane Society’s Lacey shelter, a 12-year-old cat named Amy is quietly waiting for someone to give her a second chance at love.
Staff say the gentle senior feline was brought to the shelter after her owner passed away, leaving her confused and grieving in unfamiliar surroundings.
“She doesn’t understand why she’s here,” the shelter wrote in a recent post, adding that Amy’s shy, soft-spoken nature often causes potential adopters to pass her by.
A calm cat with a tender soul
Despite her timid demeanor, Amy is described as affectionate and deeply loving once she feels safe. She gets along well with other cats and would do best in a quiet, patient home where she can regain her confidence.
Shelter volunteers believe that, given time and care, Amy will “blossom into the loving companion she’s meant to be.”
Hoping for a happy ending
Now, her caretakers at the Forked River facility are doing everything they can to help her find comfort again. Amy is spayed, vaccinated, and ready for adoption through the Associated Humane Societies’ website.
