SECAUCUS, NJ — NJ Transit rail service has been restored after a disabled train near Secaucus caused delays of up to 45 minutes for passengers traveling into and out of New York Penn Station.

NJ Transit initially reported that rail service was subject to delays of up to 45 minutes because of the disabled train. During the disruption, the agency said NJ Transit rail tickets and passes were being cross-honored by NJ Transit and private carrier buses.

PATH also cross-honored passengers at Hoboken, Newark Penn Station and 33rd Street in New York, giving affected commuters alternate options while crews dealt with the disabled train.

NJ Transit later announced that the disruption had been cleared and trains were operating on or close to schedule in both directions. Residual delays continued for trains that were already en route.

Passengers can check current train status and alternate service information through NJ Transit’s website and official service alerts.
