MANHATTAN, NY – Police released video and photos Tuesday showing a man wanted for assaulting a 10-year-old boy and his 71-year-old grandmother during a violent encounter in Lower Manhattan, officials said.
The attack happened around 7:25 a.m. Sunday near East Broadway and Market Street.
Investigators said the incident began when the child’s skateboard accidentally made contact with an unidentified man as the pair crossed the street.

Verbal dispute escalates to assault
Police said the confrontation quickly turned physical when the suspect began yelling at the victims before striking both in the face. The grandmother suffered a cut lip while the boy sustained redness and pain to his face. EMS transported both victims to NewYork-Presbyterian Downtown Hospital for treatment.
Police seek suspect caught on video
The assailant fled the scene on foot toward an unknown direction, police said. Surveillance video shows the man wearing a multicolored coat, blue jeans, and white sneakers. Detectives from the NYPD’s Fifth Precinct are asking for the public’s help identifying him.
