Man found shot dead on 15th Place in Southeast DC as homicide investigation begins

Washington, DC — A man was shot and killed Saturday night in Southeast DC, where officers found him unresponsive on a residential street after reports of gunfire.

The shooting occurred at approximately 9:43 p.m. on October 18 in the 3200 block of 15th Place, Southeast. Seventh District officers arrived at the scene to find an adult male victim unconscious, not breathing, and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

DC Fire and EMS personnel responded shortly after but found no signs of life. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Eric Jones, a resident of Southeast DC.

Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department have launched a homicide investigation and are working to determine what led to the deadly shooting. No suspect information has been released, and the motive remains unknown.
