Woman arrested in Cumberland on failure to appear warrant found with suspected meth

CUMBERLAND, MD — A 40-year-old West Virginia woman is behind bars after Cumberland Police arrested her Thursday on an outstanding bench warrant and later discovered suspected methamphetamine in her possession.

Melissa Carol Moore, of Piedmont, WV, was taken into custody on October 23 in connection with a warrant issued by the Frederick County District Court. The warrant, dated January 2, 2024, stemmed from her failure to appear in court on a previous charge for possession of CDS paraphernalia.

Following her arrest, Moore was brought before a District Court Commissioner for an initial appearance and subsequently remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. She is currently being held on a $500 bond.
