MANHATTAN, N.Y. – A 50-year-old man has been charged in connection with a street assault that left a woman and a child injured in Lower Manhattan earlier this month.
Police identified the suspect as Li Dong of Manhattan.
He faces two counts of assault and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Verbal dispute turns violent
According to the New York City Police Department, the victims—a 71-year-old woman and a 10-year-old boy—were crossing the street around 7:25 a.m. on October 19 when the boy’s skateboard struck the suspect. Investigators said Dong then confronted the pair, punching both in the face before fleeing the area on foot.
EMS transported the victims to NY Downtown Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition. The woman suffered a cut to her lip, while the child sustained facial redness and pain.
Police release images, seek public assistance
The NYPD released surveillance images through the Department of Communications and Information (DCPI) to help locate the suspect during the investigation. Dong was later identified and charged following the release.
