Suspect arrested after fleeing stolen Mazda, assaulting officer in multi-agency pursuit
Brooklyn Park, MD — A stolen vehicle investigation led to a retail theft, foot chase, and assault on an officer Wednesday morning after a suspect fled police in a stolen 2025 Mazda CX50, according to the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
Around 11:20 a.m. on Wednesday, November 5, a patrol officer in the Northern District received an alert from a license plate reader for a silver Mazda reported stolen. The vehicle was spotted shortly after in the parking lot of Dollar General at 5107 Ritchie Highway.
As officers approached, the Mazda took off, heading north on Ritchie Highway toward Baltimore. A Dollar General employee told police the driver had just stolen merchandise before fleeing the scene.
Officers tracked the suspect to the area of Olmstead Street and Curtis Avenue in Baltimore. When they attempted to arrest him, the suspect assaulted an officer and ran into a nearby building in the 4200 block of Morrison Court. With assistance from the Baltimore Police Department, officers took the suspect into custody without further incident.
The stolen Mazda was later recovered on the 1400 block of Olmstead Street.
Police identified the suspect as 28-year-old Raymond Earl Jenkins III of Baltimore. He has been arrested and charged in connection with the stolen vehicle, retail theft, and assault on law enforcement.
