WOODLAWN, MD – Detectives are investigating a late-morning shooting that left a 41-year-old woman seriously injured Thursday in the 5700 block of Johnnycake Road.
Officers from the Woodlawn Precinct responded around 11:10 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire in the area.
The victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound and was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where she remains in serious condition.
Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Investigation ongoing
Detectives continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses as they work to determine what led to the shooting.
Authorities have not released information about a possible suspect or motive.
