Gunfire erupts inside Wilkes-Barre apartment leaving one man injured and blood trail through home
Wilkes-Barre, PA — A 20-year-old man was wounded early Saturday morning after a burst of gunfire inside a residential apartment sent bullets through walls and into a neighboring unit, prompting a full-scale investigation by city and state police.
Officers responded to McLean Street at approximately 12:42 a.m. after residents reported multiple gunshots coming from inside a residence. Upon arrival, police discovered a large pool of blood at the front door and immediately secured the area.
Inside, investigators found a blood trail running through the apartment and evidence of heavy gunfire. Multiple shell casings were recovered at the scene along with several firearms. Damage from the rounds included bullet holes in the living room walls and one or more rounds that pierced into an adjacent apartment.
The injured individual, a man from Newark, NJ, was not present at the scene when officers arrived. He had been transported to a local hospital by private vehicle, according to preliminary reports.
Wilkes-Barre City Police Detectives, working in conjunction with the Pennsylvania State Police Forensic Services Unit, processed the crime scene for evidence. As of now, no arrests have been announced, and the investigation remains active.
