MANHATTAN, NY – A 64-year-old woman was wounded when gunfire erupted on a Washington Heights street late Monday afternoon.
Police said the shooting happened around 4:15 p.m. near West 204th Street and Broadway.
The victim, who was struck in the buttocks, was not believed to be the intended target.

According to investigators, an unidentified male displayed a firearm and fired at a group of men before fleeing the scene on foot, heading south on Vermilyea Avenue.
Victim hospitalized in stable condition
Emergency medical personnel responded and took the woman to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where she was listed in stable condition.
Officers from the 34th Precinct and detectives from the Manhattan North Homicide Squad are reviewing surveillance footage and canvassing for witnesses in the area.
The shooter is described as a man with a medium complexion who was last seen wearing a black jacket, black sweater, gray sweatpants, and black sneakers.

Police continue to investigate the motive and whether the gunman knew the men he was shooting toward.
