Woman charged after wrecking car and assaulting officer in DUI case
Stafford, VA — A 23-year-old King George woman is facing multiple charges after she crashed her car off an embankment early Saturday morning and later became combative with deputies during her arrest for suspected DUI.
At approximately 1:59 a.m. on December 6, Deputy W. E. Trainor responded to the area of Albion Lane and Kings Highway for a report of a single-vehicle accident. When he arrived, he found the vehicle down an embankment with significant damage.
Deputy Trainor made contact with the driver, identified as Samantha Jones, 23, of King George, and noted she had glassy, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech. After conducting field sobriety tests, Jones was taken into custody.
While in custody, Jones allegedly became combative, shoulder-checked a deputy, and refused to provide a breath sample. Her behavior continued to escalate during processing at the Magistrate’s Office.
Jones was charged with driving under the influence, obstruction of justice, assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, and a seat belt violation. She was booked into the Rappahannock Regional Jail on a secured bond.
