Drunk driver busted weaving across lanes on I-95 in Stafford

Stafford, VA — A 26-year-old Manassas woman was arrested Sunday morning after she was spotted weaving in and out of lanes on southbound I-95, and later charged with DUI after failing field sobriety tests, according to authorities.

At approximately 9:21 a.m. on December 7, Sergeant R. K. Pinkard responded to reports of a vehicle swerving dangerously near mile marker 140.6 on southbound I-95. A description and registration number had been provided by a witness.

Sergeant Pinkard quickly located the vehicle and observed it failing to maintain its lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted, and upon approaching the driver, Pinkard noted a strong smell of alcohol, along with red, bloodshot eyes and slurred speech.

The driver, identified as Catherine Alvarado Lopez of Manassas, was given field sobriety tests, which led to her arrest at the scene.

Lopez was charged with driving under the influence with an elevated blood alcohol content and failure to maintain her lane. She was booked into the Rappahannock Regional Jail under a secured bond.
