PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Police are investigating a Christmas morning shooting that left one man critically wounded and another injured after gunfire erupted inside a smoke shop in North Philadelphia.
Authorities said officers from the 25th District responded around 4:56 a.m. to a report of a person with a gun and a male shot inside a convenience store and deli located on the 3500 block of Germantown Avenue. When officers arrived, they found several people inside the store and on the sidewalk but did not locate a victim at the scene.
A short time later, Temple University Hospital notified police that an unidentified man had arrived from the location suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim, listed as a John Doe, was reported to be unresponsive and remains in critical condition.
Around the same time, a second man arrived at the hospital after driving himself there in a gray Nissan Altima. Police said he sustained gunshot wounds to his left arm and ankle and is listed in stable condition.
Investigators have not determined a motive for the shooting, and no arrests have been announced. The incident remains under active investigation by Philadelphia Police.
