FREDERICK, MD – Frederick Police are reassuring residents there is no ongoing threat after two early morning emergency calls reporting possible stabbings turned out to be unfounded.
Officers responded around dawn to separate incidents near West Patrick Street and North Bentz Street that were initially dispatched as stabbings. After investigating both scenes, police determined that neither case involved a stabbing or posed any continuing danger to the community.
In a statement shared on Facebook and X, the department explained that early information circulating on emergency scanners and social media was inaccurate.
“We understand that early information shared on emergency scanners or social media can sometimes be incomplete or inaccurate,” the statement read. “Our officers respond immediately to reported emergencies and then work to verify the facts before details are confirmed and shared publicly.”
Police did not disclose the exact nature of the incidents but confirmed both were resolved without injuries consistent with the initial reports. Officials emphasized that there is no ongoing public safety concern.
