BOSTON, MA – A Dorchester man has been arrested in connection with a deadly triple shooting on Hiawatha Road in Mattapan following an early morning operation by Boston Police. Officers with the Boston Police SWAT Team, along with Homicide Detectives and the Fugitive Unit, took 22-year-old Dkhari Wornum-Brown of Dorchester into custody at about 6 a.m. Tuesday at an apartment on Ruggles Street in Roxbury. Police say the arrest follows a nearly three-month investigation into the October 11 shooting that left three people wounded, one fatally.
The incident began just after 1:20 p.m. that Saturday when officers from District B-3 responded to a ShotSpotter alert and reports of multiple victims near 2 Hiawatha Road. Three individuals were found suffering from gunshot wounds and were transported by Boston EMS to local hospitals. One victim, identified as 18-year-old G’Kiyah Lewis of Malden, later died from her injuries on November 7. The two remaining adult male victims survived with non-life-threatening wounds.
Detectives from the Homicide Unit pursued leads over the following weeks, leading to the issuance of a warrant for Wornum-Brown’s arrest on charges of murder and carrying a firearm without a license. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
The Homicide Unit continues to investigate and is asking anyone with additional information to contact detectives at (617) 343-4470.
