Annapolis, MD – A 29-year-old woman has been arrested and charged after allegedly brandishing a firearm during a road rage incident on U.S. Route 50 earlier this month, according to Maryland State Police.

Kaila Crews of Annapolis was taken into custody on Wednesday following a weeks-long investigation by troopers assigned to the Maryland State Police Highway Gun Crime Initiative. She is charged with first- and second-degree assault, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Crews was transported to the Jennifer Road Detention Center following her arrest.

The incident occurred on December 18 along westbound Route 50 near the I-97 interchange. Police say the victim reported that a woman displayed a crowbar and then a firearm during an aggressive encounter on the highway. The victim was not physically injured.

Troopers later identified Crews as the suspect and executed a search warrant on her vehicle. Investigators recovered a loaded firearm concealed in a backpack on the front passenger seat.
