BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Berkeley Township Office of Emergency Management is warning residents to expect icy roads Monday morning as plow and salt crews continue working overnight to clear remaining snow. Officials said approximately 90% of township roads have already received at least one or two {plow} passes, but melting rainwater combined with freezing overnight temperatures could lead to slick and hazardous {conditions}.
Township officials reported that while warmer temperatures and light rain have helped clear much of the snowpack, the evening’s sharp drop in temperature poses a risk for black ice across local streets and intersections. Crews will continue plowing and begin salting and sanding operations before dawn to minimize risks for the morning {commute}.
Drivers are urged to allow extra time for travel and to reduce speeds, particularly on secondary roads and bridges that are prone to freezing first. The township reminded residents that clearing operations will continue until all routes are safe and accessible.
