Note handed to clerk sparks quick arrest in Claymont store robbery
Claymont, DE – A brief robbery inside a neighborhood discount store ended swiftly after troopers spotted a suspect walking nearby and took him into custody within minutes.
The robbery occurred around 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Dollar General located at 2605 Philadelphia Pike. Troopers responding to the scene were given a description of the suspect, who had fled on foot after the incident.
A short time later, troopers located a man matching the description walking along a nearby street and detained him without incident. He was identified as Ian Eisiminger, 42, of Claymont.
Investigators said Eisiminger entered the store and walked around for several minutes before approaching a clerk and handing over a note demanding money from the cash register. Store employees complied, and the suspect ran from the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
During a search of the area, troopers also located clothing items believed to have been worn during the robbery near a bus stop close to the store. The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit responded and assumed the investigation.
Eisiminger was transported to Troop 1, where he was charged with two counts of robbery second degree, both felonies. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on a $12,000 cash bond.
