LA PLATA, MD – A year-long investigation into a Charles County crematorium led to the arrests of two Waldorf residents accused of improperly disposing of human remains after police discovered decomposing bodies and cremated remains during a raid last year.
Maryland State Police announced the arrests of Rosa Iyonna Williams, 48, and Brandon Angelo Williams, 50, owners of Heaven Bound Crematory in White Plains. Both face eight counts of unauthorized disposal of a body under Maryland’s General Health Article §5-514.
According to investigators, the pair were taken into custody without incident Friday morning at the Maryland State Police La Plata Barrack by the State Apprehension Team. The charges stem from disturbing discoveries made during a February 2025 search of their business and residence, which revealed cremated remains, documents, and multiple decomposing human bodies.
State inspectors uncover violations leading to criminal probe
The probe began after state health inspectors flagged irregularities during a regulatory inspection of Heaven Bound Crematory. Following the findings, the Charles County State’s Attorney’s Office requested a criminal investigation by the Maryland State Police Criminal Enforcement Division. Search warrants were executed on February 20, 2025, at the crematorium on Crain Highway and the couple’s Bensville home.
Police said the ensuing investigation involved extensive forensic work to identify the remains, notify family members, and gather additional evidence of mishandling and improper storage.
