Reports of gunfire drew officers to a busy stretch of South Kings Highway, prompting a heightened police presence as investigators work to determine what happened.
Myrtle Beach, SC– Officers were dispatched Wednesday morning to the 2700 block of South Kings Highway after reports of a weapon discharge, according to the Myrtle Beach Police Department. The call came in at approximately 10:57 a.m., and officers arrived to secure the area and begin an investigation.
No injuries were reported in connection with the incident, police said, but authorities maintained a visible presence in the area following the response.
Ongoing investigation keeps officers in area
Police confirmed the situation remains under investigation, with additional officers staying nearby as a precaution. “On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at approximately 10:57 a.m., officers responded to the 2700 block of South Kings Highway in reference to a weapon discharge,” the Myrtle Beach Police Department stated. “No injuries have been reported at this time.”
Officials have not released details about any suspects or what may have led to the reported gunfire.
