Two Time Winner Maryland Woman Lands $100K Scratch Off Prize

Hyattsville woman wins $100,000 Maryland Lottery prize years after previous big win

BALTIMORE, Md. – A Prince George’s County resident identified as Cheryl has won $100,000 on a Maryland Lottery scratch-off ticket, continuing a rare streak of repeat big wins that underscores long-term player participation in the state’s lottery system.

The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency confirmed Cheryl claimed the prize Tuesday at its Baltimore headquarters after purchasing the winning $5,000,000 Fortune scratch-off ticket at Town Center Market, located at 4705 Queensbury Road in Riverdale. The purchase was made while she was on her way to a local bingo game, blending two forms of gaming that remain popular across the region.

Second major lottery win in 14 years

Cheryl said she discovered the win during a break in bingo play when she began scratching her tickets and quickly realized the prize far exceeded typical winnings.

Her latest $100,000 payout follows an earlier $50,000 win in August 2012 from the Maryland Lottery’s Bonus Match 5 daily draw game, placing her among a small group of repeat high-tier lottery winners.

She described lottery play as something she has enjoyed for years, noting the excitement factor as a key reason she continues to participate.

Plans for winnings and lifestyle impact

With her newest prize, Cheryl said she plans to complete home renovations, take a vacation, and pay off outstanding bills. The combination of practical spending and discretionary use reflects a common pattern among mid-tier lottery winners.

Her win also highlights how routine activities, such as stopping for tickets before a bingo session, can unexpectedly lead to significant financial gains.

Game details and remaining prizes

The $5,000,000 Fortune scratch-off game launched in February 2025 with three top prizes of $5 million. As of Wednesday, two of those top prizes have already been claimed, leaving one remaining.

In addition, three $100,000 second-tier prizes remain after Cheryl’s win, along with four $50,000 prizes, 41 prizes worth $10,000, and thousands of smaller payouts ranging from $50 to $5,000.

Maryland Lottery officials note that scratch-off games continue to generate strong player interest and provide consistent funding for education and public programs statewide.
