Virginia beach man charged with murder after fatal shooting on chancery square

Virginia Beach, VA – A Virginia Beach man has been arrested and charged with murder following a daytime shooting that left a 41-year-old man dead in a residential area, according to the Virginia Beach Police Department.

Juan Armstrong, 46, of Virginia Beach, was taken into custody shortly after the April 8 shooting in the 600 block of Chancery Square. He is charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a violent convicted felon. The victim, identified as Michael Armstrong, 41, of Virginia Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident was reported at approximately 1:31 p.m. when the Emergency Communication and Citizens Services (ECCS) received calls about a shooting. Responding officers arrived to find the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Detectives with the Virginia Beach Police Department’s Homicide Unit led the investigation and quickly identified Juan Armstrong as the suspect. He was immediately taken into custody following the shooting.
