Dozens cited as Trenton cracks down on reckless ATV crews

ATV and dirt bike crackdown nets arrests and dozens of citations in Trenton sweep

Trenton, NJ — A coordinated enforcement sweep targeting illegal ATV and dirt bike activity across city streets led to multiple arrests, vehicle seizures, and dozens of citations following complaints of reckless riding.

The operation took place Sunday and involved the Trenton Police Department, Hamilton Township Police, and the New Jersey State Police. Officials said the initiative focused on off-highway vehicles, including ATVs, dirt bikes, and mopeds, operating unlawfully on public roadways.

Authorities reported three arrests during the operation, along with 10 vehicles seized and 53 citations issued. Officers also generated 10 field incident reports as part of the enforcement effort.

Police said the operation was driven by ongoing complaints about riders traveling recklessly through neighborhoods, creating hazards for drivers, pedestrians, and children.

During the sweep, officers towed and seized four ATVs, three dirt bikes, one mini-bike, and two mopeds. Several individuals were issued summonses for illegal operation, while others were taken into custody and charged.

Officials stated all seized vehicles were unregistered, uninsured, and observed being operated recklessly on public streets.

The enforcement effort remains part of a broader push to address ongoing quality-of-life concerns tied to illegal vehicle use in the area.
