Woodbridge, VA – A 27-year-old woman faces multiple felony charges after investigators say she drove under the influence and caused a head-on crash that killed two people in Woodbridge, with her arrest announced Tuesday.
Prince William County Police said Jasmine Ariah Thomas, of Woodbridge, was taken into custody April 21 following a weeks-long investigation into the March 8 crash at Cardinal Drive and Whips Run Drive.
Investigators cite speed, impairment
Crash investigators determined Thomas was driving a 2015 Hyundai Genesis above the speed limit and under the influence when she crossed the median into oncoming traffic, according to Prince William County Police.
Her vehicle struck a 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe head-on, killing both occupants.
Police identified the victims as Amanda Chaloupka, 40, and Patrick Michael Chaloupka, 42, both of Woodbridge.
Multi-vehicle crash scene
The force of the collision pushed the Santa Fe into a third vehicle, a 2025 GMC Hummer driven by a 23-year-old Woodbridge man, who was not injured.
Debris from the crash also struck an unoccupied 2024 Honda Accord parked in a nearby driveway.
Thomas was initially taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries following the crash.

Charges filed after investigation
Following the investigation, authorities obtained warrants charging Thomas with:
- Two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter
- One count of operating an uninsured vehicle
- One count of expired registration
She is currently being held without bond. A court date has not yet been announced.

Police were first called to the scene around 6:45 p.m. on March 8, where they found a multi-vehicle crash involving three moving vehicles and one parked car.
Investigators later confirmed Thomas had been traveling the wrong way in the eastbound lanes prior to the collision.
