Early morning shooting blasts through homes as teen arrested
Gaithersburg, MD — A teenager is now facing attempted murder charges as an adult months after gunfire tore through a Germantown neighborhood, striking multiple homes and entering bedrooms.
Seventeen-year-old Jaden Proctor, of Germantown, has been charged in connection with the November 27 shooting on Staffordshire Drive, Montgomery County Police announced.
Officers responded around 4:47 a.m. that day to reports of shots fired in the 20500 block, where they recovered multiple shell casings. Investigators determined that at least four homes were hit by gunfire, with bullets entering several bedrooms — including one where a child was sleeping.
No injuries were reported.
Proctor was initially arrested on December 17 on unrelated warrants, during which officers recovered a firearm. He was charged at that time with separate firearms offenses.
Following further investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant on April 16 charging Proctor as an adult with multiple offenses tied to the shooting. Charges include attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and firearm-related offenses.
He is currently being held at the Central Processing Unit.
The investigation remains ongoing.
